A per-child summary of the day — meals, naps, activities, and notes — recorded as it happens instead of written up at 5pm.
The daily report is the artefact parents judge a nursery by, and the one educators most resent producing. Written at the end of the day from memory, it's slow, generic, and least accurate for the children who needed the most attention.

What is included
Daily report card per child
A single view collecting the child's day: attendance, meals, activities, and staff notes.

Why it matters
Recorded in the moment, not reconstructed at the end
A report written from memory at 5pm is a worse record than one captured at 11am, and it costs an educator the last half hour of their day. Logging in the moment is both more accurate and cheaper in staff time — the two things almost never align, and here they do.
Fewer pickup interrogations
When parents have already seen the day unfold, the conversation at the door changes from an information transfer into an actual conversation. Educators consistently report this as the change they feel most, and it's the reason we kept the handover human while digitising the record.

Do parents see updates live or at the end of the day?
Live. Parents see meals, naps, and moments as they are logged, which removes most of the 'how was she today?' questions at pickup and turns the handover into an actual conversation.
Can staff record something parents should not see?
Yes. Entries carry an explicit parent-visibility flag, so internal or clinical observations stay internal. Specialist journals are separate again, with their own per-entry visibility control.
How long does logging a daily report take?
Seconds per entry, because staff pick from the published menu and structured options rather than typing free text. The point is that it happens in the room during the day rather than being reconstructed from memory at 5pm.
Can parents download or print the daily report?
Not yet — a downloadable PDF summary is on the roadmap rather than shipped. Today the report is viewed in the app, where it stays current through the day.
Does the daily report include meals?
Yes. Meals are logged against the published weekly menu, including how much a child ate, so parents get a real answer to whether their child ate today.
What gets logged in a daily report?
Attendance, meals, activities, and staff notes, with sleep and growth tracked separately under development records.
Can I log the same activity for several children at once?
Logging is per child today. Recording one activity across a whole group in a single action is a planned improvement — it is one of the clearer staff-time wins we have not built yet.
Are parents notified when the report updates?
Parents receive push notifications for updates about their own children and control which types they get.
Can I set reminders for staff to log nappies or bottles?
Not currently. Recurring staff prompts for routine care tasks are on the roadmap; today logging is initiated by staff.
Do parents see other children's reports?
No. A parent sees only their own children, and access follows the guardian relationship rather than a configurable setting.
Is the daily report the same as a development record?
No. The daily report covers the day; growth measurements and specialist observations are separate, with their own visibility rules.
